Re-Root Canal Treatment.

A second chance for your tooth. If a previous root canal has re-infected, specialist re-treatment can usually still save it. Bring your X-ray and find out before deciding anything.

Who is this for?

Critical for patients experiencing renewed pain, swelling, or a "pimple" on the gums near a tooth that was previously treated with a root canal.

Our 3-Step Clinical Protocol

CBCT 3D scan locating the source of reinfection
1

CBCT 3D Scanning

We use advanced 3D imaging to discover exactly why the first treatment failed—such as hidden canals or microscopic cracks.

Sterilization of the previously treated root canal
2

Sterilization Protocol

The old filling material is carefully removed, and the entire canal system is thoroughly disinfected using advanced medicaments.

Bio-ceramic sealing of the re-treated canal
3

Bio-Ceramic Sealing

Once 100% bacteria-free, the canals are resealed with state-of-the-art bio-ceramic materials to guarantee long-term healing.

The Problem

When Previous Treatments Fail

It is incredibly frustrating when a tooth that already had a root canal starts hurting again. This "re-infection" can happen months or even years later. It usually occurs because the original treatment missed a hidden, curved canal, or because a leaky crown allowed new bacteria to seep back inside. Without specialized intervention, the only remaining option is to surgically extract the tooth entirely.

The Solution

Advanced Endodontic Intervention

Do not rush to extract a failing tooth. As an endodontic specialist, Dr. Chinmay is trained specifically for these complex cases. Using high magnification and 3D imaging, we locate the exact source of the hidden infection, sterilise the canal system thoroughly, and seal it with advanced bio-ceramic materials. Many of these teeth go on to last a lifetime.

Common Questions about Re-Root Canals

Why did my first root canal fail?

Teeth have complex, microscopic root branches. If the previous dentist did not have advanced magnification, a tiny branch may have been missed, allowing bacteria to survive.

Is a re-treatment more painful than the first?

No. Just like our standard root canals, we use profound local anesthesia. You will be completely numb and comfortable throughout the entire procedure.

Is it better to just pull the tooth and get an implant?

Nothing is as good as your natural tooth. If the tooth structure is still structurally sound, saving it through re-treatment is almost always the better, less invasive, and more cost-effective option.
